Why Neo Wellbeing?
Neo Wellbeing is a privacy-focused, open-source implementation of Android’s Digital Wellbeing system that gives you complete control over your device usage without proprietary surveillance. Unlike proprietary solutions that send your usage data to remote servers, Neo Wellbeing keeps all data local on your device while providing powerful features like app timers, focus mode, bedtime mode, and intelligent scheduling.
Whether you’re trying to reduce social media consumption, enforce work-life boundaries, or simply be more mindful about device usage, Neo Wellbeing provides the tools you need with the transparency you expect from open-source software.

FAQ
Why does Neo Wellbeing require root access?
Root access is required to suspend applications at the system level and access Android’s internal usage tracking APIs. This enables features like app suspension, greyscale mode, and comprehensive usage statistics that aren’t available to regular applications.
How is this different from proprietary Digital Wellbeing apps?
Neo Wellbeing is completely open source, keeps all data local on your device, requires no Google services, and gives you full control over the implementation. There’s no telemetry, no ads, and no hidden data collection.
Can I use this alongside Google’s Digital Wellbeing?
It’s not recommended to run both simultaneously as they may conflict. Neo Wellbeing is designed as a complete replacement for proprietary wellbeing solutions.
Is my usage data private?
Yes! All usage statistics are stored locally in a Room database on your device. Neo Wellbeing never transmits any data over the network.
